Child abuse, in any form, is never acceptable. Rhode Island state law requires any person who has “reasonable cause to know or suspect a child has been abused or neglected…is mandated to report that information within 24 hours.”

You can help prevent child abuse and neglect. Be a nurturing parent. Get involved. Help a friend or family member who may be having difficulty with a child, or help them find the needed assistance. Report any suspected abuse to the authorities. It’s up to each and every one of us to work to keep children safe and provide them with the best possible start in life.
