Thank you to the 200 attendees at the Investing in Our Children Luncheon on October 5th. What a great turnout and strong showing of support for the work of Children’s Friend.

The support of so many in the community is crucial to our success as an organization.

Because of this support we are able to continue the long history of Children’s Friend making decisions based on what is in the best interest of vulnerable children.

The luncheon was a successful and moving event. The personal stories of our work help our friends and donors to understand the complicated and important need for our services.

Prior to the luncheon we hosted a Town Hall Meeting to discuss methamphetamine abuse and its impact on child welfare.

DCYF, The Rhode Island State Police, DEA, The Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office, Central Falls Police, and representatives from child welfare and substance treatment providers discussed the impact of methamphetamines on Rhode Island with national expert Sidney Gardner.

The conversation will continue as we work to develop protocols and procedures for the State regarding methamphetamines and its impact on child welfare.
