Child and Adult Care Food Program
This program, funded by the Department of Education, acts as a support for providers to enrich their knowledge of good nutrition and optimal child development. All providers are assigned a Case Manager, who will act as a link to CHILDSPAN, to provide nutrition education, information regarding upcoming training sessions, and to support providers in becoming better caregivers and educators. In 1987 Children's Friend and Service adopted the USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) to supplement the income of licensed family child care providers. In addition to providing financial reimbursement, CACFP promotes healthy nutrition among participating family childcare homes.
