Title: Bilingual Family Support Worker
Reports To: Family Support Services Manager or Family Support Services Supervisor
Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Child Development or a related field or equivalent education and experience. Experience with at-risk families. Bilingual ability must be fluent in English and Spanish. Must provide proof of a physical examination not more than two years old including results of a TB test and for women under 35 years of age, proof of a Measles, Mumps and Rubella immunization or immunity. Must have a valid driver's license, required insurance liability limits, and a car to be used for work related tasks.
Duties:
- Provide a range of culturally competent home‑based services weekly to all members of families participating in the program, including: Parenting education, developmental milestones, health and nutrition, safety, home-management, crisis intervention, and social service linkage in partnership with families.
- Provide home and center‑based parent‑child activities to promote positive, nurturing interaction between parents and their children.
- Facilitate weekly support groups and effectively collaborate with Early Head Start teachers to deliver quality services during groups.
- Promote parent involvement in center-based activities, including groups, parent committee, and events.
- Complete all assessment and evaluation paperwork within program guidelines. Maintain client records and complete all necessary documentation within established program time frames.
- Ensure program is in compliance with all regulations regarding Home Visits and In-Kind according to Early Head Start performance standards.
- Engage families in ongoing and timely development of family-driven and service-relevant Family Partnership Agreements.
- Contact referrals in a timely manner and maintain weekly visits to full caseload, per program requirements.
- Adhere to productivity requirements as established for the Early Head Start Program.
- Participate in case conferences and collaborate with other service providers working with families. Make appropriate referrals and linkages to other community resources as needed.
- Provide translation and interpretation services for Children’s Friend staff in regards to client-related issues.
- Contribute to the overall success and quality of all programs and services within Children’s Friend by working constructively and collaboratively with other staff members to address programmatic or agency-wide issues and needs. Participate in agency committees.
- Constructively utilize formal and peer supervision to evaluate and improve effectiveness in providing services to clients. This includes active participation in supervision, team meetings and agency meetings.
- Pursue ongoing professional development through professional reading and attending relevant workshops and conferences (including Children’s Friend’s core training program).
- Develop and maintain ongoing outreach strategies to inform families and the community of agency programs, services and activities offered through Children’s Friend.
- Interact effectively and respectfully with others and particularly with individuals whose backgrounds and life experiences are different from one’s own.
