Position:                      Clinical Social Worker, Family Counseling Program

Reports to:                  Family Counseling Program Manager

Qualifications:            Masters Degree in Social Work from an accredited school.  Must be licensed in Rhode Island at the highest possible level, based on degree and experience. Must have a good working knowledge of clinical social work services with children and families.  Must have a valid driver’s license, and car, and auto liability insurance.

Job Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of children, parents and families.

Provide individual, family and group psychotherapy to clients of the Family Counseling Program.  This psychotherapy may be home, office or community based, and may include crisis intervention services on an as needed basis.

Assume intake responsibilities on an as needed basis.  Such responsibilities include: responding to initial inquiries for service, screening, triage and crisis intervention, information and referral, completing initial paperwork.

Provide advocacy and guided referrals to other service systems including; DCYF, legal, judicial, medical, educational, human services, etc.

Maintain accurate client records and complete all necessary documentation within established program time frames.

Maintain current information regarding agency programs, along with information regarding insurance eligibility and other community resources.

Constructively utilize formal and peer supervision to evaluate and improve effectiveness in providing services to clients.  This includes active participation in weekly team meetings and the peer review process.

Provide after hour’s beeper coverage on a rotating basis, for additional compensation.

Provide court testimony as required.

Participate, as required, with administrative staff in the evaluation of agency programs and service delivery.

Participate in community networking activities based on program or agency need.  Participate in staff committees as assigned.

Identify training needs and actively participate in training program.  Assume additional responsibility for professional development by reviewing appropriate literature and attending relevant conferences and workshops. (including Children’s Friend’s core training program).

Interact effectively and respectfully with others and particularly with individuals whose backgrounds and life experiences are different from one’s own.

Contribute to the overall success and quality of the agency by working constructively and collaboratively with other staff members to address programmatic and agency-wide issues and needs.

Maintain a productivity standard of 21 kept client contacts per full-time week.  The productivity standard is pro-rated for part time staff.

Assist in publicizing agency programs and educating others about the agency and its services.

Complete other duties as assigned.
