Job Description
Job Title: First Connections Supervisor
Reports to: Director of Health & Nutrition
Qualifications: Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Social Work, Nursing, or Family Studies. Must have
supervisory experience, and expertise in working with infants, young children, and at-risk families. Must have a valid driver’s license, a car to be used for work related tasks and auto liability insurance.
Duties
- Provide leadership, knowledge, support and supervision to staff within all of the Health and Nutrition programs.
- Coordinate, lead and actively participate in quarterly Health and Nutrition meetings.
- Collaborate with nurses, social workers and other relevant staff in developing a service plan for each family. Specify problems and goals related to the care, health and development of the infants and children.
- Provide home-based parent-education, particularly regarding infant care and development as needed.
- Support and monitor home visiting staff in areas of caseload, productivity requirements and documentation to ensure that contractual and agency requirements are met.
- Constructively utilize individual and peer supervision to evaluate and improve effectiveness in providing services to clients. This includes active participation in supervision, team meetings and agency meetings.
- Actively participate on the community task forces and committees as assigned. Demonstrate professionalism, competence and expertise when representing the agency in the community.
- Contribute to the overall success and quality of the program by working constructively and
collaboratively with other staff members to address programmatic and agency-wide issues and needs.
- Provide individual and group supervision to program staff as assigned at least weekly, and on an as needed basis.
- Complete formal staff evaluation for supervisees and share feedback regarding job performance on a regular basis during supervision.
- Assist Director of Health and Nutrition in overall operation of Health and Nutrition Services within Children’s Friend, including staff development and retention, evaluation, budget monitoring, and contractual compliance.
- Provide backup to all Health and Nutrition programs in emergencies and during employee leaves and position vacancies.
- Provide health and child development-related workshops and trainings as assigned.
- Provide support and educational groups for parents as assigned.
- Pursue ongoing professional development through professional reading and attending relevant workshops and conferences (including Children’s Friend’s core training program)
- Develop and maintain ongoing outreach strategies to inform families and the community of agency programs, services, and activities offered through Children’s Friend.
- Provide leadership in ensuring that all individuals are treated respectfully and that diversity in backgrounds and life experience is supported and valued throughout the agency.
