Title:  Nurse Supervisor, Nurse-Family Partnership

Reports to: Director of Health and Nutrition

Qualifications:  Must be a Bachelor’s level Registered Nurse with current Rhode Island license.  Master’s degree preferred. Must have supervisory experience and expertise in working with child and maternal health, and at- risk families.   Must have a valid driver’s license, a car to be used for work related tasks and auto liability insurance.

Duties: Provide leadership, knowledge, support and supervision  to staff within the Nurse-Family Partnership program using the principles of motivational interviewing, coaching and reflective practice .

  1. Collaborate with staff in developing a nursing service plan for each family.  Specify problems and goals related to the care, health and development of the infants and children as well as appropriate goals for the mother.
  2. Support and monitor nurses in areas of caseload, productivity requirements and documentation to ensure that Nurse-Family Partnership and agency requirements are met.
  3. Participate in case conferences, team meetings and home visits with program staff as needed and as recommended by Nurse-Family partnership.
  4. Constructively utilize individual and peer supervision to evaluate and improve effectiveness in providing services to clients.  This includes active participation in reflective supervision, team meetings and agency meetings. 
  5. Demonstrate effective leadership of Children’s Friend through a commitment to excellence, modeling for others, and building a culture of success.  Identify specific opportunities for integration and collaboration throughout the agency and provide leadership to the process
  6. Collaborate with other Directors, Program Managers and Supervisors to ensure effective communication and integration of services for families is provided by all staff in the home, center, and community.  Provide active and effective leadership in the integration of services and the vision of a prenatal to 5 system of care.
  7. Actively participate on the community task forces and committees as assigned.  Demonstrate professionalism, competence and expertise when representing the agency in the community.
  8. Actively participate on the Nurse-Family Partnership Advisory Board.
  9. Contribute to the overall success and quality of the program by working constructively and
    collaboratively with other staff members to address programmatic and agency-wide issues and needs.
  10. Provide individual and group supervision to program staff as assigned at least weekly, and on an as needed basis. 
  11. Complete formal staff evaluation for supervisees and share feedback regarding job performance on a regular basis during supervision.
  12. Assist the Director of Health and Nutrition with staff development and retention, quality assurance, evaluation, budget monitoring, and contractual compliance.
  13. Pursue ongoing professional development through professional reading and attending relevant workshops and conferences (including Children’s Friend’s core training program)
  14. Develop and maintain ongoing outreach strategies to inform families and the community of agency programs, services, and activities offered through Children’s Friend.
  15. Provide leadership in ensuring that all individuals are treated respectfully and that diversity in backgrounds and life experience is supported and valued throughout the agency.
  16. Other duties as assigned.
