Job Description

Job Title: Nutrition Supervisor

Reports to: Director of Health & Nutrition

Qualifications:   Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition/RDLicense.Must have experience working with pregnant women young children, and at-risk families. Must provide proof of a physical examination not more than 2 years old including results of a TB test and for women under 35 years of age, proof of a Measles, Mumps and Rubella immunization or immunity. Must have a valid driver's license, required insurance liability limits, and a car to be used for work related tasks.

Duties

    • Oversee all areas of Head Start, Early Head Start and and Child Care Nutrition including the establishment of program goals, and relationship with funding sources and other state, federal and community based organizations.
    • Demonstrate effective leadership of Children’s Friend through a commitment to excellence, modeling for others, and building a culture of success.
    • Collaborate with other Head Start and program managers to ensure effective coordination and communication within the classrooms and with childcare partnerships.
    • Ensure that the program is in compliance with all Child and Adult Food Program standards.
    • Communicate and participate in all aspects of catering services EHS/Head Start, and Child Care.
    • Oversee all Nutrition services within the agency and develop linkages to ensure that children and families nutritional needs are met.  Ensure that all staff in the classroom, home, and community provides integration of services for families.
    • Ensure that all children with special dietary needs have Nutrition plan developed and followed by all disciplines.
    • Provide weekly supervision to staff nutritionist ensuring that all program services are in compliance with federal and state regulations. 
    • Provide leadership in state and community health-related initiatives, collaborating with community health care providers, Early Intervention programs, and other health-related organizations to improve service delivery in the community.
    • Oversee and ensure home-based nutrition assessments of young children and families and appropriate collaboration with other Head Start staff and childcare partnerships.
    • Provide consultation as needed to program staff regarding child and parent nutritional needs.
    • Oversee tracking of nutrition information on program participants, and ensure preparation of required reports.
    • Oversee the identification of local health resources and eligibility requirements for accessing those resources, ensuring all participating families have a medical home.
    • Assist in obtaining funding/resources for program activities as needed through grant writing and/or other appropriate activities. 
    • Constructively utilize formal individual and peer supervision to evaluate and improve effectiveness in providing services to clients.  This includes active participation in supervision, team meetings and agency meetings.
    • Pursue ongoing professional development through professional reading and attending relevant workshops and conferences (including Children’s Friend’s management core training program).
    • Contribute to the overall success and quality of the program through working constructively and collaboratively with other staff members to address programmatic and agency-wide issues and needs.
    • Interact effectively and respectfully with others and particularly with individuals whose backgrounds and life experiences are different from one’s own.
    • Provide leadership in ensuring that all individuals are treated respectfully and that diversity in backgrounds and life experience is supported and valued throughout the agency.
    • Play a leadership role in publicizing agency programs and educating others about the agency and its services, in collaboration with the Development Director.
    • Other duties as assigned.
