In case you didn’t hear, March 2nd was Dr Seuss’ birthday and here at Children’s Friend the Head Start children celebrated in a big way.

All of the classrooms participated in a variety of ways: noise makers, parades, and whiskers too! You could see striped hats everywhere. More THINGS than just one and two were spotted about and of course there was THE CAT! He visited all of the centers and the partnerships too. Thanks to Miss Linda and the bus which turned into the official “Cat Mobile”!

The READ ACROSS AMERICA program was established to support reading to children. Every year on Dr. Seuss birthday all across America, schools everywhere participate in a day that promotes this concept -
D.E.A.R. (DROP EVERYTHING AND READ).

All of our centers participated in this endeavor. At 10:00 am and 2:30 pm all classes stopped whatever they were working on and heard a story read by a special guests. Our guest came from all over the state. Many from our own agency as well as: Providence police officers, doctors, nurses, nutritionists, college professors, college students, security guards, parents, art teachers and friends to name a few.

As each child was taught, “Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is you-er than you.”
