June 28, 2010Children’s Friend is pleased to announce that the “Nurse Family Partnership” program will begin in Rhode Island on July 17.
On Friday, June 25th, Children’s Friend hosted an outreach event geared to acquaint the community with the program. It included a wonderful presentation by Leanne Barrett of Kids Count and staff from Children's Friend and an explanation of what the program provides. Thirty representatives from agencies throughout the Urban Core attended in preparation for the beginning of services.
A team of nurses and an interpreter will travel to Denver, Colorado in July for a week to receive intensive training on this evidence based model of home visiting. After spending weeks reviewing preparation materials and beginning the outreach efforts, the team is eager to begin seeing expecting first time mothers.
