Investing In Our Children Luncheon 2007

Senator Jack Reed, Secretary of State Ralph Mollis, and General Treasurer Frank Caprio joined hundreds of Rhode Island business leaders for the Children's Friend Fifth Annual Investing in Our Children Luncheon held on September 24, 2007 at the Westin Hotel.

The keynote speech "Investing Our Resources to Strengthen Families and Protect Children" was given by the Reverend Darrell Armstrong, Founder & Chair of the National Association of Foster Children, Inc., and the Director of the Division of Prevention and Community Partnerships for the New Jersey Department of Children and Families.

Children's Friend honored Citizens Bank with its annual Friend of Children Award for the company's outstanding support of Children's Friend and its work with disadvantaged children.

Citizens and its employees support and participate in the agency's annual Spirit of Giving Holiday Drive, the Walk for Children, and provide assistance to the agency, and the families it serves, throughout the year. Joseph J. MarcAurele also serves on the Rhode Island Early Childhood Investment Council, ensuring that Rhode Island invests wisely in creating effective resources that give disadvantaged young children the best possible start in life.

"Citizens' commitment to helping at-risk children in our community is nothing short of remarkable", said Children's Friend Executive Director, David Caprio.

Corporate sponsors of the Luncheon included Citizens Bank Foundation, AMICA, MetLife Auto & Home, The Providence Journal Company, Washington Trust Wealth Management, Coast to Coast Promotional Products, and Panera Bread.
