Job Description
Title: Child Care Head Teacher
Reports To: Educational Services Manager
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education required. Ability to organize and plan activities, establish warm, supportive relationships and provide a wide variety of stimulating and developmentally appropriate experiences for children. Reliable automobile, valid driver's license and auto liability insurance. CPR and first aid training. Must provide proof of a physical examination not more than two years old; results of a TB test indicating free from TB and for women under 35 years of age, proof of measles, mumps and rubella immunization or immunity, and be able to lift up to 40 lbs. Must provide all required DCYF licensing forms within 30 days of hire.
Duties:
- Work with the Educational Services Manager to implement a curriculum based on best practice standards appropriate for infants, toddlers, and preschool as needed.
- Responsible for the implementation of the program either by following DCYF standards for child care regulations or Early Head Start education performance standards.
- Perform tasks necessary to maintain a high quality childcare facility. Ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain progress notes on the emotional, physical, social and intellectual development of assigned children as requested by the Educational Services Manger.
- Coordinate and communicate on a regular basis with program staff regarding the individual needs of each child.
- Hold parent‑teacher conferences with parents when appropriate.
- Actively participate/co-facilitate program meetings.
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring and training of Child Care Staff.
- Make constructive use of individual on a weekly basis.
- Responsible for office duties (which may include monthly newsletter, enrollment) under the supervision of the Education Services Manger.
- Provide overall management of all on site child care services when Educational Services Manager is not present.
- Complete 30 hours of relevant training in child-related topics during the first year of employment, and 20 hours of ongoing professional development and training thereafter
- Assist in publicizing agency programs and educating others about the agency and its services.
- Provide leadership in ensuring that all individuals are treated respectfully and that diversity in backgrounds and life experiences is supported and valued throughout the agency.
- Pursue ongoing professional development through attending relevant workshops and conferences (including Children’s Friend’s core supervisory training program).
