Job Description
Job Title: Interpreter
Reports to: Nurse-Family Partnership Supervisor
Qualifications: High School graduate with ability to provide interpretation services for program staff. A pleasant telephone manner, as well as excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with staff, clients, visitors and Board members and the ability to recognize and respect the need for confidentiality. Must be able to work flexible hours. Must have a valid driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and a car to be used for work related tasks. Must be fluent in English and Spanish and have the ability to translate written documents.
Duties
- Provide interpretation and translation services for program staff by communicating effectively from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English. Services provided in the office and during home visits with Nurse-family Partnership staff.
- Implement program services that conform with all federal, state and agency standards.
- Maintain client records by completing all necessary documentation within established timeframes.
- Attend Nurse Family Partnership training, as well as all Children’s Friend core training for direct service staff.
- Constructively utilize formal and peer supervision to evaluate and improve effectiveness in providing service to clients. This includes active participation in supervision, team meetings and agency meetings.
- Pursue ongoing professional development through professional reading and attending relevant workshops and conferences, including Children’s Friend core training.
- Contribute to the overall success and quality of the program by working and collaboratively with other staff members to address programmatic and agency-wide issues and needs.
- Assist in publicizing the programs and educating others about agency services.
- Meets established productivity standards for direct service.
- Interact effectively and respectfully with others and ensure that life experience and diversity in backgrounds is valued.
- Other duties as assigned.
