Title: Bilingual Male Involvement Specialist
Report to: Family Development Supervisor
Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Social Work or a related field or equivalent education and experience. Bilingual ability must be fluent in English and Spanish. Experience with at-risk families. Experience working with fathers a plus. Must have valid driver’s license, required insurance liability limits, and a car to be used for work related tasks.
Duties:
Provide culturally competent home-based case management services to families participating in the Dads Making a Difference Program. Provide home-based parent-child activities to promote positive, nurturing interaction between fathers and their children. Promote best practice in child development and early childhood education.
Develop and implement a Family Partnership Agreement for each participant in the Dads Making a Difference program within program guidelines.
Conduct face-to-face client, collateral and provider interviews that are consistent with the Family Partnership Agreement. Make appropriate referrals and linkages to other community resources as needed.
Provide center and community-based parent‑child activities to promote positive, nurturing interaction between fathers and their children including facilitating father’s groups.
Adhere to productivity requirements as established for the Dads Making a Difference program.
Assist in developing and implementing recruitment and outreach strategies and materials for the Dads Making a Difference project.
Provide transportation to program participants, using an agency vehicle, to assist them in accessing needed resources.
Provide translation and interpretation services for Children’s Friend staff in regards to client-related issues.
Maintain client records and complete all necessary documentation within established program time frames.
Participation with agency and community initiatives regarding fatherhood issues, including RI Father and Family Network and Children’s Friend Male Involvement Committee.
Insure the program is in compliance with all regulations regarding the Dads Making a Difference program, including all evaluation data and in-kind documentation. Collect and maintain data needed for project reports, in-kind, and evaluation for Dads Making a Difference.
Contribute to the overall success and quality of all programs and services within Children’s Friend through working constructively and collaboratively with other staff members to address programmatic and agency-wide issues and needs.
Constructively utilize formal and peer supervision to evaluate and improve effectiveness in providing services to clients. This includes active participation in supervision, team meetings and agency meetings, and leadership to staff related to engaging fathers in services through participation on committees and providing trainings.
Pursue ongoing professional development through professional reading and attending relevant workshops and conferences (including Children’s Friend’s core training program).
Develop and maintain ongoing outreach strategies to inform families and the community if the agency programs, services, and activities offered through Children’s Friend.
Interact effectively and respectfully with others and particularly with individuals whose backgrounds and life experiences are different from one’s own.
