Children’s Friend Receives Grant From BJ’s Charitable Foundation

Donation will help create “Healthy Babies, Healthy Start” baby bags

November 28, 2011 — Children’s Friend announced today that the organization is the recipient of a $5,000 grant from the BJ’s Charitable Foundation.  The funds will be used for a new initiative to create 50 “Healthy Babies, Healthy Start” baby bags filled with diapers, wipes, safety plugs, gates and other safety gear to help low-income parents care for their babies.  The grant is part of BJ’s Charitable Foundation’s efforts to support nonprofits that work on providing healthcare to those who would not normally have access. The baby bags will be available to families working with Children’s Friend with babies or to those who are expecting a child.

“Being a parent is hard enough without having the added worry of wondering where essential supplies to keep your baby safe and healthy will come from,” said David Caprio, President and Chief Executive Officer of Children’s Friend. “These bags will provide necessary supplies to 50 new parents, and we are honored that the BJ’s Charitable Foundation has chosen to support our families.”

“The BJ’s Charitable Foundation is dedicated to supporting the communities surrounding our Clubs,” said Jessica Newman, Manager of Community Relations for BJ’s Wholesale Club. “We are proud to support the ‘Healthy Babies, Healthy Start’ program to assist families in need.”

Established with the goal of creating a positive, long-lasting impact on the communities BJ’s serves, the mission of BJ’s Charitable Foundation is to enhance and enrich community programs that primarily benefit children and families. Since its first grant in 2005, BJ’s Charitable Foundation has allocated funds on a quarterly basis, giving more than $10 million to over 1,000 community organizations in the 15 states where BJ’s Clubs are located.
