BRYANT UNIVERSITY AND PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS PRESENT BICYCLES TO YOUNG CHILDREN FROM CHILDREN’S FRIEND

Smithfield- On Friday June 26, 2009 at Bryant University in Smithfield Rhode Island, children from Children’s Friend were the proud recipients of bikes assembled during the Accounting Careers Leadership Institute hosted by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Every summer PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) and Bryant University team up to run a one week summer program for high school juniors from along the Atlantic Seaboard.  The program is supported by PWC and targets minority students to provide them exposure to the accounting field, experience living on campus with other talented students, and an opportunity to work in teams on a project which they present at the culmination of the program.

This year the program was held during the week of June 22, 2008. As part of a team building exercise, the students assembled bicycles and presented them to children from Children’s Friend. The presentation of the assembled bikes to the children was on Friday, June 26, at 12 noon. “Thanks to the leadership and generosity of Bryant University and PricewaterhouseCoopers, 24 low income children will have a brighter, happier, and a more active summer because of the donated bicycles and bike safety equipment” said David Caprio, Executive Director of Children’s Friend.

The event was a great success bringing many smiles and happy faces to all those that attended the presentation.
