Acting Assistant Secretary Hansell Visits Children’s Friend
Meets with Head Start Students and Parents
David Hansell, the Acting Assistant Secretary for the Administration for Children and Families in the Department of Health and Human Services, paid a visit to the Children’s Friend Friendship Center in Providence on March 23rd. Secretary Hansell met with parents, community partners, and Children’s Friend staff at the Friendship Center, where 330 children receive Head Start services each day. Secretary Hansell also had the opportunity to read to children in classrooms.
“It was an extraordinary opportunity to have Secretary Hansell hold a community meeting at the Friendship Center with our parents, children, and staff,” said David Caprio, President and CEO of Children’s Friend. “We are grateful that during his busy trip to Rhode Island he wanted to take the time to meet with us and read with children in our classrooms.”
