Students and Parents Urge Congressman Cicilline To Continue To Reject Cuts To Head Start Funding
Children’s Friend Head Start Policy Council members, who are parents of Head Start students, met with Congressman David Cicilline today at his Pawtucket office, urging him to continue to object to proposed federal budget cuts in Head Start funding. The council members brought their children to meet the Congressman, and they were also joined by Children’s Friend staff.
The group presented the Congressman with a letter and banner with the pictures and handprints of 180 Head Start students who would lose eligibility if the proposed budget cuts take effect. “Our children are our greatest resource for a bright future,” said David Caprio, President and CEO of Children’s Friend. “We urge the Congressman to continue to help us protect the young children who could suffer as a result of the spending decisions made in Washington, and thank him for his efforts.”
