CHILDREN’S FRIEND ELECTS LAURA HARPER, PATRICIA MARTINEZ AND MARIE GANIM TO BOARD OF DIRECTORSPROVIDENCE, RI – June 10, 2011— Children’s Friend announced today at its Annual Meeting that it has elected Dr. Laura Harper, Patricia Martinez and Dr. Marie Ganim to its Board of Directors. The appointees were selected for their collective experience in administration, education, family support, and advocacy for Rhode Island’s vulnerable children. “The Board and I look forward to the diversity and breadth of expertise Dr. Harper, Ms. Martinez and Dr. Ganim bring to Children’s Friend,” said David Caprio, President and Chief Executive Officer of Children’s Friend. “Their positive reputation within the local community and connections nationwide are a natural fit for the Board as we strive to provide services that improve the lives of Rhode Island families.” Dr. Harper, a resident of Jamestown, is active in the field of early care and education, having worked with children, families and teachers over the past 23 years. She currently serves as the administrator of the Early Childhood Education Certification program at the University of Rhode Island. Ms. Martinez, a resident of Pawtucket, currently serves as the Executive Director for the Center for Family Support and Student Development with the Central Falls School Department. She was the former Director of the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF). Dr. Ganim, a resident of Lincoln, is the Deputy Chief of Staff and Policy Director for the Rhode Island Senate. She previously served on the Board of Directors for Children’s Friend. Her previous experience as Director of Health and Human Services Policy informs her leadership abilities on health and welfare-related issues. |
