Volunteering At Children's Friend

Child Care Volunteers
Come in and spend some time with precious babies, toddlers, and preschoolers enrolled at our Childcare Center . You can read to them, rock them, and help feed them, or do arts and crafts with these adorable little ones who thrive with individualized attention. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Clothing Closet Volunteers
We receive many wonderful donations of clothing, accessories, and small household items on a weekly basis at our two Drop In Centers and are always in need of help in these very busy rooms! Help is needed with hanging, folding, sorting, and labeling bags of clothing and organizing and displaying other items such as toys, strollers, books and more!

Library Volunteers
Do you love books? We always need help with our collection of books, journals, toys, and videos at the CHILDSPAN office. Help organize, re-shelve, and check-in/out books. CHILDSPAN is RI's child development and education training system and has an extensive collection of materials for child care and education providers for professional growth and development.

Family Support Volunteers
Children's Friend offers many family activities that help teach low-income parents how to encourage their child's development. Friendly, welcoming assistance is always appreciated. Bi-lingual a plus!

Special Event Volunteers
Children's Friend holds two annual fundraisers each year, the Walk for Children held in the spring and the Investing In Our Children Luncheon usually held in the fall. Volunteers are welcome to help in a variety of ways including logistics, soliciting sponsorships, raffle and auction items, promotion and publicity.

Holiday Drive Volunteers
The Spirit of Giving Holiday Drive is a unique and wonderful opportunity to help make the holidays a little brighter for children living in poverty. Volunteers are needed to help staff the holiday drive room, greet sponsors, label gifts, and load toys into delivery vehicles. The Holiday Drive runs the first 3 weeks of December.

Reading Is Fundamental Volunteers
Help with the Reading Is Fundamental program in creating fun activities that engage parents and care givers in the joy and importance of reading to young children. Classroom readers and people willing to dress up as storybook characters are needed. This program is conducted three times a year.

Dad's Making a Difference
