Almost everyone I know has a tradition around this time of year; cookies, gift giving, family get-to-gethers. What I like best about this time of year is the lights. Lighting candles, hanging lights on homes, visiting lit displays of faith; each of these remind me that we all can be a light for someone in need. While we can certainly do this any time of year, the holiday season puts human need front and center.
The Children’s Friend Annual Spirit of Giving Holiday Drive is a perfect way to be the light for one of thousands of families in Rhode Island who are in need. Basic needs like warm coats, pjs, hats, diapers, and car seats are on the wish lists of the families who benefit from the generous businesses, faith communities, and hundreds of individuals across the state who support the Holiday Drive.
If you’re still looking for a way to celebrate the light of the season, you can still support our annual Spirit of Giving Holiday Drive. Start a new tradition this year, there is still time; be a light for a family in need.
