In November 2014, I wrote about the Emergency Crisis Fund. Back then, I had recently started helping with the Emergency Crisis Fund by distributing emergency assistance support to our families in need. With over two years gone by, I continue to be amazed and humbled by both the level of need of the children and families, and the generosity of giving from private donors, foundations, and corporations.
The Emergency Crisis Fund helps low-income, vulnerable children and families during times of crises by providing help with emergency support when no other resources are available. The major needs supported include:
- Utilities, especially heat during the cold New England winters
- Warm clothing (winter coats, hats, gloves, etc.)
- Diapers and wipes for newborn babies
- Partial housing assistance, reducing risk for homelessness
- Transportation (to help parents visit a sick child in the hospital)
The circumstances that the families we serve on a daily basis can be challenging. The Emergency Crisis Fund can make an incredible difference for our families, alleviating additional stress and worry when there is nowhere else they can turn.
During this holiday season, I hope you will consider making a donation to this critical resource that helps families at their greatest time of need. Go to childrensfriendri.org to make a donation today.
Thank you so very much to our community partners and to our individual donors who make this critical support possible. With your support, together, we can make a tremendous difference for vulnerable children and their families.
