As we enter the holiday season, I am always inspired by the ways so many folks have made our Holiday Drive a tradition within their own holiday celebration. From handmade mittens sales, to coat, book and toy drives, it truly takes a community to make our annual Spirit of Giving Holiday Drive a success.
On the eve of #givingtuesday, I wanted to share a heartwarming story about what it means to be philanthropic.
Please meet Joselynn. At ten years old, she is a fundraiser at heart! Joselynn wanted to help other children who aren’t as fortunate, so she created and held her own fundraiser at an art festival to collect money for children in need. On a recent rainy, cold day, she remained true to her plan and raised $250 for our Holiday Drive, so that she could give gifts and bring joy to children in foster care. Joselyn was once a child in foster care and her family has been a Children’s Friend foster care family for ten years.
At the Children’s Friend Annual Adoption Celebration Brunch, Joselynn and her family presented staff with a beautifully wrapped gift – enclosed was the culmination of her hard work – a $250 check. Joselynn accomplished her goal and in the process, made sure other children will have a wonderful holiday.
If you are looking for inspiration on Giving Tuesday or really any day this holiday season – please think of Joselynn and her selfless act of giving. She truly knows the impact of helping children in need.
