The newly published report “The State of Preschool 2017”, from the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER), has some good news for Rhode Island.
NIEER states that “only high-quality preschool programs can be expected to produce large and lasting gains in outcomes”.
They developed a rating system for 10 preschool policy standards to help influence and measure quality. Rhode Island met all 10 standards related to quality. One of only 3 states that met all 10 quality standards. This is great news and gives us a strong foundation to build on as we work to expand access to high-quality early care and education programs in Rhode Island.
