Happy Father’s Day ~ 2015 Foster Families Appreciation Dinner

On Thursday, June 18th, we celebrated our foster families during our annual dinner held at Davenport’s Restaurant in East Providence, RI. This year’s event was dedicated to all of our foster fathers in honor of Father’s Day on June 21st.  Foster service awards were presented to four families for providing homes to vulnerable children from 5 years to 25 years.
These families are living examples of our mission in action, opening their homes and their hearts to children in need.   When a crisis hits a family, it may not be safe for children and their parents to live together. The reasons vary – medical catastrophe, mental illness, substance abuse, and children’s behavior problems are just a few. To help the family through the crisis, temporary separation is sometimes necessary. Foster parents provide a safe, temporary place for children to live while their birth parents confront their problems.
All children need safe and loving homes. Children’s Friend foster parents serve Rhode Island’s most vulnerable children— well after the work day is over and most of us go home at the end of the day.
Please join me in thanking our dedicated Foster Parents for opening their hearts and homes to children in need.  Congratulations and thank you for all you do!  Happy Father’s Day!
