Over the years, Head Start has received any amount of feedback for not eradicating poverty.
And while the data is clear that Head Start children are more likely to graduate high school and attend college, watching this video made me think about a few others things. It made me wonder if we should be talking more about mitigating the impact of poverty, than eradicating it.
As I see it:
Head Start is about…. building a foundation in the most critical early years that enables a child to engage and succeed both academically and socially.
Head Start is about… building skills and confidence in parents experiencing staggering levels of stress due to poverty.
Head Start is about… changing lives and making what seemed impossible…possible.
It is about hope.
