It takes a village… behind the scenes at the Holiday Drive.

We are in full swing at the Holiday Drive and it is all hands on deck!  As we edge closer to our goal of serving 1,450 families, we are so thankful for every volunteer, sponsor, community partner, and funder, who has helped us get to this point, because every hour of volunteer time, every family sponsored, and every dollar raised helps to ensure that Rhode Island’s most vulnerable children have a magical holiday.

Have you ever wondered how we do it?  Well, it’s through a ton of help and hard work!  Sponsors come in and drop off their gifts, then all gifts get checked in, labeled and bagged for transport and sent over to our distribution center.  The elves who do all the checking, sorting, labeling and bagging are volunteers, including individuals, families, community, and corporate friends.

The gifts then get moved by hand to our distribution center where they get checked in again and readied for pick up by our family workers, who deliver the gifts to the families they serve every day.  This is what the distribution center looked like on Friday after a busy day of drop offs:

In addition to the many corporate partners and individuals who directly sponsor families each year, there are also the wonderful partners who hold toy and gift drives for the Holiday Drive each year and the individuals, corporations, and funders who give cash donations that allow us to purchase warm clothing, coats, pajamas, books and toys.  These general donations help to fill in the gaps and serve more families each year.

As you can see, our Holiday Drive is unique as we work very hard to serve each family and provide gifts they both need and wish for and we need your support to make it happen!  Thanks so much for all you do – we certainly could not serve as many families as we do without your support.

Happy Holidays!
