Kids, Cops, and Classrooms

It’s that Time of Year Again…

Back to School is right around the corner and as we prepare our classrooms for the first day, our police and community groups have kicked off their annual “Kids, Cops and Classrooms” program at CCRI. Thanks to the generous support of our law enforcement, The Rhode Island Police Chiefs’ Association and in partnership with a number of companies in Rhode Island, that contributed school supplies and services, including Ocean State job Lot, Benny’s Home and Auto, Samsonite, Walgreen’s Pharmacy and Hasbro, our children will have new backpacks and school supplies at the start of the year.

This is a true collaboration between community leaders and local and State Police, coming together to do what is right for vulnerable children and families in Rhode Island.  Back to school is often a stressful time for our parents and children with the added expense of school supplies, clothing and other essentials, that families have difficulty covering even under the best circumstances.  This is also a fantastic opportunity for our children to have positive interactions with our law enforcement and build strong community relationships.

I’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all who participate in this important program.  Over 12,000 Rhode Island students will receive backpacks filled with toys and school supplies and the program has a remarkable impact on the families we serve.
