More than eighty percent of a child’s brain has formed by the age of three and there can be no greater investment in the future than how we help them grow an learn in their first three years.
This coming year, Roger Williams is launching an Infant Toddler Teaching and Learning Certificate. Our Early Head Start partnership grant with child care centers across the state of RI quickly revealed accessible, meaningful education for this segment of the workforce has been a longstanding need in our state. And so we decided to do something about it by funding a team to work on a design over the past 18 months.
We are incredibly excited about this innovative design for working professionals which will be available in English and Spanish, through an once a week evening course design. Not only are teachers able to earn course credit for previous learning, the certificate draws on national best practice, aligns to RI standards and is stackable so that the students can go from earning a CDA to an AA.
This learning opportunity will give our infant toddler teachers the knowledge and competencies to engage, nurture, and grow the bodies and minds of our state’s babies, all while supporting families as their child’s first teacher.
Please join us for an INFORMATION SESSION at Children’s Friend on Tuesday December 12 from 6-7!
