It comes down to this. If you had your choice, would you rather put out fires or prevent them?
Here at Children’s Friend, we spend countless hours planning, revising and ensuring that each and every day our programs and departments work efficiently and effectively for the children and families we serve.
“Continuous Quality Improvement” is more than gathering and analyzing data. It is a state of operation. It is the ability to take a chance on an idea, implement it, review it, work out the kinks and go at it again and again until you have improved the quality of the process and are happy with the results. It’s not an immediate fix, and it never ends.
Children’s Friend is about working with families to prevent issues and concerns for them. We work with very young children in order to intervene early so the chance for good outcomes becomes apparent, real and likely.
Good fiscal stewardship allows for the focus to be on the families and children we serve, not whether we can pay our bills or keep our programs running. There are several departments behind the scenes who each and every day do as much for the children and families we serve as the line staff who are the public face of the agency.
With hope and perseverance, we strive to be a better agency than we were yesterday. We thank you, our friends, patrons, staff and volunteers for supporting our belief that “in improving the well-being and healthy development of Rhode Island’s most vulnerable young children”, we improve the quality of life for all Rhode Islanders.
Have a safe and happy holiday season!
