Recruiting Foster Parents

A few weeks ago, my colleague Aimee Mitchell touched upon the upcoming Resource Family Retreat.
Upon reading recent articles in our local newspaper regarding the need for foster parents, I was compelled to also write about this first-of-its-kind retreat.

The RI Department of Children, Youth & Families will be conducting a weekend-long Resource Family Retreat on March 9-11, at the RI Convention Center for prospective foster families.   It condenses most of the training from 10 weeks to just one weekend.   Their goal is to have 200 families complete most of the requirements to become a licensed foster parent in the state of Rhode Island.

If you are on the fence about becoming a foster parent, there are resources only a phone call or click away.  Here at Children’s Friend, our dedicated team can answer your questions and provide information sessions at https://www.cfsri.org/foster.html. To sign up for this weekend event, please go to the DCYF website at http://www.dcyf.ri.gov/foster/

While we give thanks to the RI Foundation, Annie E Casey Foundation, DCYF and Governor Raimondo for making this event happen, we give you special thanks for considering this, to make a difference in a child’s life.
