When I started with Children’s Friend in April 2018, what drew me to this agency was the energy from the staff in the interview process. I was impressed with the authenticity and sheer commitment to the cause as they described their passion for the work. A year later I see that was just the tip of the iceberg.
Recently Children’s Friend was pleased to earn Providence Business News’ award for Best Places to Work in RI. This important award was based on standard workplace criteria- policies, practices, philosophies, and systems that include information on benefits, work-life balance, wellness programs and more.
Although the criteria for this award is important in determining the winners, I beg to differ on what makes this employer one of the ‘Best Places to Work’. Our staff’s commitment, compassion, and spirit of advocacy that I first viewed at my interview, combined with a ‘were in this together’ spirit creates what I can only describe as a ‘force’ that makes this a special place.
This force changes lives, it’s all connected. Not a day goes by where I don’t see the fruit of their work. I’m humbled to be in a position to help staff do their jobs, removing obstacles so they can focus on the clients.
Thank you for your great work and keep up the force!
