I found myself this past weekend wondering what my husband and I could do to have some fun that wouldn’t cost a lot. Rhode Island has SO many treasures, I knew there had to be something! We ended up walking around our own “backyard” in Pawtuxet Village! And although that was an interesting and fun walk, I know there’s more to explore and still plenty of summer left to check out these things:
- Sunday afternoons are free at the RISD Museum, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Providence Children’s Museum has free admission every Friday in the summer, that’s 4 more times you could enjoy the museum thanks to MetLife Family Friday!
- If you feel more adventurous and like an outdoor challenge, the Cliff Walk in Newport is a great way to spend some time! Mostly a paved walkway, most folks can access and complete the walk without much trouble.
- Finally, how about checking out the big, white building on Smith Hill in Providence…our own Rhode Island Statehouse. The last time many Rhode Islanders stepped foot into this amazing and historic building was when they were on an elementary school field trip. Anyone can tour the statehouse, at no charge, as part of regularly scheduled tours offered by the Secretary of State’s office.
