The Women, Infants and Children program, WIC, has been supporting low income children for over forty years. WIC provides an array of educational and nutritional supports for families. These supports include breastfeeding support, nutritional assessments, referrals to needed services, and vouchers for healthy foods.
Recently several neighborhoods in Providence were faced with the loss of WIC services, as several WIC sites in Providence ended services. Responding to the community need and the important benefits that WIC provides, I am proud to report that Children’s Friend has been able to step in and fill some of the gap for the community.
Thanks to our incredibly dedicated and flexible staff, amazing state partners, and generous donors and supporters, we expanded WIC services at two of our sites and opened a new WIC site in Providence to help meet the needs of families. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
If you know of a family in Providence in need of WIC services please see the above flyer with our locations and contact information.
Thank you for your support which allows Children’s Friend to continue improving the well being and healthy development of Rhode Island’s most vulnerable young children.
