As we reflect on and say farewell to this challenging year, the words that keep coming to mind for me are “Thank You.”
Most recently, thank you to all of our generous donors who stepped forward in safe and socially distant ways to provide gifts for over 1,200 families in our Spirit of Giving Holiday Drive.
Our friends and donors were with us all year long, not just during the Holiday Drive. From the first-ever 401Gives Day in April to donated meals from struggling restaurants for our hungry families, making the first virtual Investing In Our Children Luncheon in the Fall our most successful luncheon ever, you allowed us to step up and meet the needs in our community.
Thank you to our staff, who put their passion, energy, flexibility, and innovative spirit into action. Working in new and different ways, our staff safely and effectively supported those we serve through the many challenges that 2020 presented.
My thanks also go out to our Board, Policy Council, committee members, and other volunteers who guided our work through the operational challenges while keeping our eye focused on long-term success for those we serve.
It was certainly a difficult year in many ways, but despite staying 6 feet apart, the Children’s Friend family came together like never before. We enter 2021, a strong and cohesive force to create a “better normal” for our kids, families, and community.
